THE SPIRIT LIFE

Now we have seen that we can only worship God in Spirit and in truth, and any other kind of worship will amount to futility. The father God does not accept any other kind of worship other than the worship that is done in the spirit.

If this is so, then everyone who wants to worship God acceptably should stop doing it the religious way, but to seek this way of worship. 

Now, what is this worship that Jesus called a WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH?

When a person becomes born again, i.e when a person believes Jesus’ finished works for their sins, and his mission of reconciliation, they become God’s child. This born again experience is actually an experience that happens in the spirit of such person. Remember that we said the spirit of man was disconnected from the Godhead when he committed the sin in the garden of Eden, i.e the spirit  of man became dead and then God’s spirit was no longer with man.

Upon becoming BORN AGAIN, we were BORN OF THIS SPIRIT AGAIN. Being born of the spirit means the Spirit of God quickened our spirit, raised our spirit from its deadness and made us joined together to God again. Our spirit was made alive again. This is because the deadness of our spirit before was because the Holy Spirit of God left us, the revival of our spirit now will then be due to the fact that the Spirit of God was made to dwell in us, joined together with our spirit.

So we became connected back to God and this connection is actually through the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is resident in every believer as a seal; this same Holy Spirit is God. That he is present in us means he is ruling our lives. Our heart is the throne of God, he rules us by his Spirit every day bringing his will to pass in our lives.

So Paul said “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so that the Spirit of God dwell in you”

So being in the spirit is not when you start a song in your church or somewhere and then you lost control of yourself by closing your eyes. BEING IN THE SPIRIT IS THE SAME AS THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLING IN YOU. EVERY BELIEVER IS IN THE SPIRIT!

We are in the Spirit, and the Spirit is in us!

This is why the only worship that can be acceptable to God is the worship in the spirit. So the statement of Jesus to Samaritan woman, “worship in the spirit” means the “way of life of the believer” and this simply means the “spirit life”

By “spirit life” we mean a life controlled by the Holy Spirit. Everyone who will worship God in Spirit and in truth which is the acceptable way of worship must have believed in Jesus Christ as their savior and in turn must have received the Holy Spirit.

The kingdom of God on earth right now has its root in this life of the spirit. Since the Holy Spirit is God in us, then he rules us from within to the physical.

Man is made of spirit, soul and body. The spirit of man being the property of God in man is the only part of man that can relate with another spirit. The body and soul of man cannot relate with the spirit realm.

That is why the Holy Spirit is joined together with our spirit and that is why God requires our worship to be in the spirit.

The Holy Spirit of God is best in the position to fill the vacuum that the fall of man had caused in the beginning not religion.

The Holy Spirit of God resident in the believer is not different from God having his abode in the body of the believer. So then can man offer an approved worship to God because God is no more far. We now have a property of God in us who receives our worship consciously and unconsciously. The worship is a constant one between our spirit and the Spirit of God in us.

So Paul later said in Romans 8 that the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. This is because we are in the spirit and the spirit is in us. So we are in constant worship God through him. He presents our request to God and abolishes the old way of religious prayer.

The believer does not pray a mechanical religious prayer but prays in the spirit

The believer does not do things by their senses but walk in the spirit

The believer rejoices and sings in the spirit

The believer fellowships with the spirit

And the believer worship God in the spirit.

This is the life that God wants us all to live in this world. Whether you are a Christian, Muslim or whatever, God wants you to worship him in the spirit. And you cannot worship him in the spirit if you are not in the Spirit. And you cannot be in the Spirit if you have not received the Spirit into your spirit. And you cannot receive the Spirit unless you BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AS THE SACRIFICE FOR YOUR SINS and the savior of your soul.

By this, we can get freedom from the shackles of religion, we can then enjoy God.
